Leatrice Ohl 1926-1990
New Haven, CT native and award winning Connecticut artist Leatrice Nankin Ohl was a lifetime artist with a natural talent. She studied drawing and painting at the prestigious Paier College of Art located in Hamden, CT from 1960 to 1980. Focused on realistically capturing the human figure from life drawing, her preferred medium was charcoal on colored paper. She also painted still lifes on canvas in oil and acrylic. Leatrice won many awards for her drawing including best artist awards at Bridgeport, CT University, Waterbury Art Association, and Stratford, CT Art Festival group art shows. The drawings in this collection being shown are taken from her estate. Her daughter Elizabeth Ohl Rhoades today follows in her mother’s footsteps as an artist.
